Signs of hope are not easy to discern in these anxious times.

But neither were they easy
to understand two thousand years ago.
All the Jews of Jesus’ day hoped for a Messiah,
but they were looking in the wrong places.

The HOPE of salvation came
not with fanfare and royal trappings,
but through an unnoticed happening

in a stable.
